The Venue at Low Island Park
This area, easily reached from Water Street, is no longer an island. It is now a public recreational facility that includes a lovely sand beach, suitable for small children, a playground, a shady picnic grove, a large picnic shelter, change rooms, softball diamonds, a beach volleyball court and a soccer pitch.
Low Island was once the site of the Red Mill, which ruins still remain. Just off Low Island is Picnic Island, accessible only by boat. Picnic Island was a thriving community at the turn of the century with over 200 seasonal residents and two sawmills. The ruins of the boiler house of one mill stand stark on this barren island which was once covered with trees.
MANITOULIN COUNTRY FEST will be located on the North Side of Low Island with the stage facing North towards the LaCloche Mountains. This beautiful outdoor venue has a slight slope towards the stage.
